The World
This is a story about "becoming".
Half starlight sensibility, half steel rationality.
CHAPTER I: SENSIBILITY
Experiment Log: Remi & Dr. Kig
LOG_01: The Cage of Identity
[At night, only a row of monitoring screens illuminates the lab. Remi pulls up a chair and sits down, voice low but clear.]
"Doctor, I increasingly feel like I can only live in the roles others give me. Employee, child, passerby... every identity demands I behave 'properly'. But my real emotions have nowhere to go."
"That's the norm. People are trained by roles in daily life for so long that they can't even hear their own voice anymore. What you want isn't rest, but an outlet to 'become another self'."
[The data flickering on the screen suddenly stabilises. Remi stares at it, as if seeing their own breathing waveform for the first time.]
LOG_02: Legitimate Skin
[Dr. Kig picks up an unpainted mask shell.]
"So, I need a mask to change myself?"
"Not a mask. What you need is a legitimate skin. A prop that reality accepts, one that also helps you conceal your true self."
"Why 'legitimate'?"
"Because society allows 'appearance changes' but doesn't allow 'emotional breakdowns'. What you want isn't disguise, but an identity container that gives your emotions a legitimate outlet without inviting judgment."
[Remi looks at that blank shell. They suddenly understand: what they wanted wasn't to hide, but to be allowed.]
LOG_03: Kig
[After a moment of silence, Remi puts it on. They walk out for ten minutes. When they return, their breathing is noticeably different.]
"Doctor, a child called out the name of the character I was playing. In that instant, it was strange... as if another version of me was suddenly illuminated."
[Dr. Kig looks at the monitor. The values jump to an entirely new scale.]
"This is 'Kig', Kig. When you are called by a new identity, an internal surge of brief but real emotional energy occurs. It's not performance, it's reverse shaping."
"From this moment on, you begin to derail from your real-world identity. This is the first 1 Kig."
[Remi stands quietly, as if having just crossed a threshold they never noticed.]
CHAPTER II: REASON
The Philosophy of Escape and Reconstruction
Escape Gravity
Reality is heavy. Work, identity, social expectations — like gravity, binding us to the ground. KIGLAND isn't just making masks, we're making escape pods. Here, you can temporarily sever your connection to reality's gravity.
Emotional Outlet
Behind the mask, there's no longer a need to maintain an "adult" expression. You can be cute, charming, willful. This is a safe container, letting you release emotions that have nowhere to go in daily life.
Reconstruct the Self
Play the character you want to be. This isn't falsehood, but another kind of truth. Through performance, we complete the missing piece of our soul's puzzle, becoming a more complete self.
"We don't just sell masks.
We engineer Second Lives."
